There are under 100 days to go before the AP elections and now is the time for the political parties to lock their alliances, electoral plans, MLA/MP candidates, and manifesto announcements. AP BJP wing is on the same track as they have publicly announced their intention to join TDP and JSP alliance for the first time after the break-up following the 2014 election.
BJP AP Vice President Vishnu Vardhan Reddy has put forth a set of conditions if their party is to form an alliance with Telugu Desam and Jana Sena for 2024 elections. He made this announcement in a media debate last night.
Vishnu Vardhan demanded 75 MLA seats and 12 MP seats if BJP is to form the alliance with Telugu Desam and JSP. Essentially, he is demanding 50% of the MLA and MP seats in the state. He says AP BJP will decide who will be forming the government in 2024.
Going by Vishnu’s demand, TDP and JSP will have to sacrifice half of the total MLA and MP seats. This seems very impractical particularly with TDP in the fray. This is a bold claim from AP BJP, a party that won 0 MLa and 0 MP seats and lost deposits in nearly each and every constituency in 2019.
However the positive thing is that BJP has at least exhibited its intention to probably join the alliance. Chandra Babu and Pawan Kalyan can work on this and come to a decision on the alliance with BJP as a triangular alliance is more beneficial for everyone involved.
