Revanth Reddy has turned his focus towards strengthening the Andhra Pradesh Congress, despite currently serving as the Chief Minister of Telangana. Recent developments indicate a growing sense of uncertainty among YCP MLAs and Ministers regarding internal party matters. Jaganmohan Reddy has communicated that some sitting members may not receive tickets in the upcoming elections, and certain ministers and MLAs are expected to contest in different constituencies. This decision has sparked dissatisfaction among some members, leading to considerations of changing constituencies or exploring alternative political affiliations.
With the alliance between TDP and Janasena already in place, Congress emerges as a viable option for those seeking a change, as securing a nomination from the aforementioned alliance appears challenging. Revanth Reddy is strategically positioning himself to leverage this situation. Reports suggest that if individuals join Congress, they may be assured of receiving a party ticket. Revanth’s plan includes safeguarding the interests of those who switch allegiances, particularly in relation to businesses and properties in Hyderabad.
The success of Revanth’s plan could potentially result in around 20 YCP MLAs contesting on behalf of Congress, a significant and unusual development for the established party. Additionally, there are speculations that YS Sharmila might assume leadership within Congress, potentially injecting more momentum into the party. The collaboration between Telangana Congress and AP Congress, facilitated by being in power, could further support Revanth’s efforts.
