TDP – Janasena Seat Sharing, A Hectic Task?

Published by

The buzz over the seat-sharing between the TDP and Jana Sena is hitting a crescendo and seniors in the decades-old party are facing some anxious moments.

The first list of the TDP-Jana Sena combine candidates is likely to be ready by Sankranti. No doubt, Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, the honchos of the parties, should have sat together and worked out to bring out the final list but there is no information about it.

This has prompted the media to publish random reports on the issue. According to the Jana Sena sources, the Jana Senani is giving more importance to his community, the Kapus and the BCs, in selecting the constituencies.

There is talk that Pawan Kalyan had been getting surveys of the 175 constituencies repeatedly done following which he has some clarity over the number of seats and the constituencies to pick from the lot.

The Jana Sena, it is being said, is showing interest in contesting from the twin Godavari and North Andhra districts. The TDP is likely to contest from Nellore, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts. However, there is a hitch in this issue. The Jana Sena is showing interest in Godavari and North Andhra districts which incidentally are also are also TDP strongholds and hence, many TDP seniors are not giving their consent to it.

Many senior TDP leaders feel that allowing the Jana Sena to make inroads into their traditional strongholds would create problems in the future. It is learnt that the TDP men are demanding seat sharing in 75:25 ratio in the total 68 seats existing in the twin Godavari and North Andhra districts.
