After Kapus, BCs hold the key to victory of the political parties in Andhra Pradesh. Hence, major political parties – YSRCP and TDP, are going full throttle in luring the BC community, which comprises as many as 139 sub-castes. Though huge in number, all these sub-castes mostly remain united without any internal squabbles.
While the YCP has taken up a bus yatra to prove its commitment to the BCs, the TDP boss is holding meetings with leaders of that community to regain the lost connect with them.
The YCP is trying to bring together SCs, STs, minorities and even women by including leaders of those sections in the yatra. The ruling party is holding several roadshows and public meetings to woo various communities and had even claimed to have been successful in the endeavor even when there is no visual evidence for it.
TDP supremo Naidu also has been chanting the BC mantra for the last few months and claiming that their party is also known as ‘BC party’ for the weight and significance given to the community since it was founded. Time and again, Naidu is reminding the BCs about TDP founder Late N.T. Rama Rao’s services in the uplift of the community. The Jayaho BC-Raa Kadali Raa public meeting being held in Kanigiri is a testimonial to the TDP’s efforts in bagging the BC votebank.
TDP sources said that about 24 such meetings would be held in 25 days, specifically aimed to lure the BC community.
The rival parties are also making it a point to lambast the other mentioning about the ‘injustice and dual standards’ of those leaders.
It has to be seen whom would the BCs prefer in the upcoming elections.
