The TDP has plans to push the NRIs into limelight during the upcoming elections. According to sources, a majority of the seats are likely to be earmarked for the NRIs.
Already, Gudivada constituency has been given to Venigalla Ramu, an NRI. Ramu is completely immersed in campaigning travelling across the length and breadth of the constituency and creating awareness about the loss the state had incurred during the YCP rule.
Apart from Gudivada, TDP boss N. Chandrababu Naidu, it is learnt, would finalise the candidature of NRIs for various other constituencies too. According to the scuttlebutt, Uyyuru Srinivas is likely to get the Guntur West constituency. Similarly, the TDP is likely to make some changes in Srungavarapukota constituency, Vizianagaram district. NRI Kompa Krishna is the front runner in the race for the ticket from this Assembly segment.
In Nellimerla constituency too in Vizianagaram district, former minister Prativada Narayana Swamy would be replaced with NRI leader Bangarraju. Though Narayana Swamy is an active TDP leader, he would be replaced, say party sources.
In Parvatipuram Manyam district too, NRI Gonela Vijayachandra is likely to contest the polls from Parvatipuram constituency.
It is being said that 8-10 constituencies would witness NRIs in the contest in the upcoming polls.
Why this preference for NRIs? It is mainly to withstand and confront the money and muscle power of the YCP leaders.
In addition, it is learnt that the incumbent TDP leaders had failed to strengthen the party in their constituencies and hence, the TDP supremo had decided to change the leadership to bring in new vigour and confidence into the cadre.
This apart, the NRIs picked by Naidu were found to be carrying forward the TDP torch in the foreign land with gusto during the last five years, playing a dominant role in asserting the need for the eminent leadership of Naidu in Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu has planned to reciprocate their commitment and belief in him.
