After his decade-long journey with TDP, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani decided to switch sides. Just three days after announcing that he is quitting TDP, Nani scheduled a meeting with YCP head and AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy today. He met Jagan along with other YCP leaders Devineni Avinash and Vellampalli Srinivas.
Shortly after meeting Jagan, Kesineni Nani spoke with the media and made a few tall statements. “Chandra Babu did nothing to Vijayawada. I was the one who got funds from the center and carried out development and welfare projects. I did so much for TDP but it all went in vain. I sold over Rs. 2000 crores worth of personal assets and properties to support TDP, but Chandra Babu never valued enough.” Nani said in front of the media.
However, Nani’s political journey with TDP was never smooth. He had quarrels with the local leadership in the Krishna district and also at the higher level with Chandra Babu himself.
It all went wrong between Nani and Chandra Babu in 2017 when Nani shut down Kesineni Travels in protest against other bus agencies that allegedly operated without valid permissions and registrations. He complained against then Transport Commissioner N Balasubramanyam in Chandra Babu’s reign as the CM regarding this matter and this agitated Babu.
Adding to that, the constant fights with TDP leaders like Buddha Venkanna and his own brother Kesineni Chinni, destroyed whatever leeway Nani had in TDP. In the end, it got to a point where Chandra Babu had to oust Nani away from TDP.
Nani is now looking for a better political journey with YCP as he is likely to get the Vijayawada MP ticket while his daughter Kesineni Swetha might get the MLA ticket. Will this vocally aggressive leader have a better future in YCP? Time will answer this question.
