YS Sharmila wasted no time in launching an offensive against her brother and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, immediately after assuming charge as PCC president earlier today. After paying floral tributes to her father and former CM of united AP, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, yesterday in Idupulapaya, Sharmila reached Vijayawada today morning and took charge in the presence of many Congress leaders.
Sharmila thanked the Congress high command for having trust in her and giving her a huge responsibility which she feels very proud to handle as her father also held the same post twice and got elected as CM of the state on two occasions.
Taking the attack directly to Jagan Reddy and Chandra Babu Naidu, Sharmila said there has been zero development in the state after its separation in 2014. She lashed at both leaders for failing to fight for the Special Category status. She said that the state would have benefitted significantly had the Special status been bestowed by the centre. She also questioned why both Naidu and Jagan didn’t raise their voice against the BJP for not considering the interests of the state.
Sharmila criticized that the two tenures of TDP and YSRCP pushed the state to the brink with huge debts amounting to 10 lakh crores. She highlighted that the state has got not a single metro and also didn’t get any big companies in the last ten years.
She adopted a no-holds-barred approach in highlighting the inefficiencies of Jagan Reddy’s government. She highlighted that the state is devoid of a Capital city and blamed both Jagan and Naidu for the current predicament.
Sharmila also took a dig at the BJP government at the centre. She lamented that it failed to increase employment opportunities for youth and also pointed out that farmers are reeling under heavy losses due to their ineffective policies.
