The election date for Andhra Pradesh elections has been declared and the elected representatives are busy chalking out their plans to clinch victory. In such a situation, there is a heavy exodus from the YCP, for obvious reasons.
Many of the elected representatives, belonging to the YCP, are disillusioned and are doubting their prospects with the party. With the buzz against the ruling party increasing by the day, the exodus is also on the rise.
“There is an air of uncertainty in the party. The cadre is in a state of anxiety. I am not responsible for the situation and in a bid to end this situation, I am resigning to the party and MP position too,” said Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu, indicating the increasing disenchantment of the leaders in the party.
It is learnt that the YCP is searching for another candidate in Lavu’s place and considering it as an insult, Krishnadevarayulu distanced himself from the party.
In addition to those disappointed after being denied tickets, many others whose services were not recognised and felt neglected as they belong to the weaker sections are also quitting the party.
Penamaluru MLA and former Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, MLC Janga Krishnamurhty publicly spoke about the insult meted out to them and then the YCP leadership replaced Parthasarathy with minister Jogi Ramesh, as party coordinator.
Since then, Parthasarathy has gone into silent mode and there is information that TDP leaders are in contact with him.
Janga Krishnamurthy is demanding that Gurajala should be allocated to him as it is his native constituency, which he had foregone during the last election for Kasu Mahesh. Recently, he said that there was no truth in the YCP leadership claiming that he was given a suitable post in the party. “There is no respect or recognition to the post given to me. I could not inaugurate at least a small event so far,” Janga said, which reflects his agony and determination to quit the YCP.
Already, Kurnool MP Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashouri had put in their papers. MLAs Alla Ramakrishna Reddy (Mangalagiri) and Kapu Ramachandra Reddy (Rayadurgam) also quit the party. Ramakrishna Reddy had joined the Congress and Ramachandra Reddy declared that he and his wife would contest from Rayadurgam and Kalyanadurgam constituencies respectively.
Despite positive response to Lavu Krishna Devarayulu’s candidature during several surveys of the YCP, the party president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is determined to replace him and peeved over this development, Lavu quit the party.
Minister Gummanuru Jayaram is also dissatisfied with the YCP leadership following his replacement in Aluru. The party high command had appointed ZPTC member Virupakshi as Aluru coordinator.
Similarly, Nandikotkur MLA Arthur is also complaining that injustice has been meted out to him in the hands of Reddys.
Tiruvur MLA Rakshanidhi is also cribbing that he was left neglected after TDP MP Kesineni Nani was inducted into the party.
Ongole sitting MP Magunta Srinivasula Reddy is also likely to leave the YCP as there is buzz that the CM is searching for a more suitable candidate from the constituency.
Santanutalapadu SC MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu is also weighing options about quitting the YCP.
