Telangana assembly underwent a rejig after BRS was uprooted from power and Congress, led by Revanth Reddy bulldozed its way to form the government. Now coming to the crux of the story, shockingly, 84 of the total 119 MLAs in the Telangana assembly have court cases or police cases against them.
According to the report from the Forum for Good Governance, there are a staggering 572 cases against 84 MLAs in Telangana. The cases range from cheque bounces, cheating, assault, mischief, criminal conspiracy, and land grabbing.
In the party-wise segregation of specified criminal cases, Congress MLAs have 52 criminal cases against them while BRS MLAs have 20 criminal cases and BJP MLAs have 7. MIM has 4 MLAs on the list while the lone CPI MLA also has pending cases against him.
15 of these 84 MLAs have only 1 case against them and 9 have less than 10 cases. The other 60 MLAs have over 10 cases against them, shockingly.
This report consists of the data of the wealth and properties of these MLAs as well. 7 of the 119 MLAs have assets worth 100+ crore rupees while 57 MLAs have worth in the range of 10-100 crore rupees. 55 MLAs have assets amounting to less than 10 crore rupees. Congress MLA Gaddam Vivekanand is the richest MLA with Rs 606 crore worth of assets.
