The YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to launch ‘Siddham’ — an election campaign ahead of the Assembly polls to invigorate and infuse confidence in the party cadre. The catchy phrase ‘Siddham’ was chosen by the YCP boss to indicate ‘readiness’ on various fronts.
‘Siddham’ expresses the party’s readiness for the forthcoming elections, which Jagan has described as Kurukshetra Yuddham, to compete with the opposition parties in the elections and also to continue the welfare programmes with unwavering support of the public.
Marking the launch of the campaign, the party has plans to organise a huge public meeting in Vizianagaram, for which public will be drawn in large numbers from nearby Parvathipuram and Manyam districts. The sprawling vacant land opposite ‘Tagarapuvalasa Moodu Kovellu’ on the Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar highway in Bheemli constituency, Visakha district has been chosen as the venue.
Jagan had already declared that Vizag would be the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh.
It is expected that public, nearly 3-4 lakh, would be mobilised from all the 34 constituencies in the North Andhra region, tagged as a backward region in the state.
North Andhra, coastal districts are conventionally known to be supporters of the TDP. Jagan has intentionally planned the campaign from this region to evoke support from the public in these districts.
The YCP also released video and audio material too to induce the election spirit both in the cadre and public. Further, huge banners, flexis, posters and billboards have been put at several vantage points with the word ‘Siddham’ in bold and striking font along with Jagan in confident postures, along with his father late YSRS, to catch the attention of the voters.
The party cadre is also ready for the show of strength at the public meeting having decided over the number of people each of the party leaders should mobilise to the venue. All arrangements have been made for public meeting scheduled to take off in a few hours from now. The police officials have also taken necessary steps to diver the traffic to enable smooth conduct of the meeting.
The slogan ‘Siddham’ is also aimed at expressing Jagan’s readiness to take on the opposition parties
— both individuals and coalitions too.
In addition to the caste and religion cards, Jagan is also banking on the beneficiaries of the various welfare schemes implemented by the YCP government during the last 4.5 years, for his votes.
