The president of Andhra Pradesh Congress, YS Sharmila is proving herself as a firebrand leader as she is fearlessly taking on her brother YS Jagan, and other YCP leaders. In just one week, Sharmila questioned YCP’s liquor and sand mafia, asked Jagan to reveal why he left the special category status fight after becoming CM, and pointed to Jagan as the reason why the YS family divided.
But the problem for Sharmila in AP Congress is that she is the only vocal leader who is able to publicly fire on Jagan with veterans like Panabaka Lashmi already having left Congress. She is having to do all the heavy lifting herself. But with elections approaching quickly, Congress needs more reinforcements and the latest news is that Telangana firebrand leader Konda Surekha is likely to join Sharmila in leading Congress’s charge in AP.
Konda Surekha won in the Telangana assembly elections recently and is one of the feisty leaders in Telangana Congress. She has now revealed her intention of joining Sharmila in AP election campaign. Surekha said she is raring to join hands with the YS daughter and is waiting for the green signal from Congress high command. Once that is done, Konda Surekha could be on her way to AP to campaign for Congress along with Sharmila.
Notably, Konda Surekha was the first female politician to rebel against Congress on Jagan’s behalf. She left her cabinet ministry post and walked with Jagan, but she couldn’t continue with YCP for long as she and her husband Konda Murali complained that they were humiliated there. They later joined Congress. After all these years, Surekha is on the brink of entering AP again. Both Sharmila and Surekha who campaigned for Jagan in the past could soon be seen working together against Jagan.
