The government of Telangana held a felicitation ceremony at Shilpa Kala Vedika, Hyderabad today, to celebrate the achievements of 2024 Padma Award recipients The event had CM Revanth Reddy, Venkaiah Naidu, and Chiranjeevi, amongst others in attendance.
Speaking at the meeting, Revanth Reddy made a huge announcement as he pledged 25 lakh rupees of prize money for every Padma Shri award winner. Apart from this substantial prize money, the CM also pledged a Rs 25,000 monthly pension to every recipient. He confirmed that this prize money will be presented to the beneficiaries by Chiranjeevi, who is a fine exponent of artistry from the Telugu states.
Revanth pointed out that these artists pledge their lives for the public and it is the government’s duty to reward them for their efforts. “These poets and artists are still facing financial issues. So in a positive reinforcement, the government of Telangana has decided to provide them with the prize money and monthly pension so that they carry on with their good work without having to scrape for money.”
Chiranjeevi then spoke highly of Revanth Reddy as he said “Young and dynamic leader Revanth Reddy is the first CM that I’ve seen who proactively worked on congratulating and rewarding the efforts of artists. He needs to be appreciated for his exemplary display of respect and affection for artists.”
