In a subtle retaliation, YCP rebel and Rayadurgam MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy said that he would contest the 2024 elections, despite quitting the party.
When asked if he would contest as an Independent or switch his loyalty to another party and campaign against the YCP honcho, Ramachandra Reddy replied in the negative. He made it clear that he would not campaign against Jagan and that he would win the polls on his strength.
“I have an image of my own. Why should I forego it? If I take up campaigning in the name of Jagan, I will not get more than 1,000 votes but instead, if I try to go into the public with my own image, I will definitely win. Why should I damage the image of Jagan for a silly reason? God will take care of everything,” he said.
In fact, Ramachandra Reddy quit YCP after MLA ticket was denied to him. He said that injustice was meted out to him but immediately said that he and his family members have special affection towards Jagan.
“I will never go against Jagan. Come and see my house. You will find Jagan and his father’s portraits in every room. You can also hear Jagan Odarpu Yatra songs,” he told mediapersons.
After quitting the party, Reddy was more visible in the lobby than in the House. He even visited the TDP office in Rayadurgam and shared pleasantries with the party cadre. They shared views on the Budget presented by the YCP government and also about the political scenario in the state.
Ramachandra Reddy made clear his intention to contest the forthcoming elections, without clarity on how he would enter the fray.
