The rule of thumb that Chandrababu is strictly following while allocating MLA and MP tickets is ‘One family one ticket’ as he has decided to give only one MLA or MP ticket per family. But there might be certain situations when Chandrababu might have to bend the rules and one such circumstance has come up with the Paritala family.
According to reports, Paritala Sunitha met Chandrababu and asked for Raptadu and Dharmavaram tickets. Naidu instantly assured Sunitha that she would be given the Raptadu MLA ticket, but stagnated the request to give the Dharmavaram ticket to Paritala Sriram.
Sunitha sacrificed Raptadu ticket in 2019 to facilitate the political entry of her son Sreeram, but this backfired as he lost to YCP’s Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy. So the Paritala camp recouped and Sunitha decided to come back to Raptadu in the 2024 assembly elections and send Sreeram to Dharmavaram.
When Sunitha presented this proposal in front of Chandrababu he reportedly accepted her candidacy in Raptadu which could be a sure-shot seat if Sunitha contests. According to a print media report, Naidu asked Sunitha to reconsider the request as YCP has financially sound candidates in Raptadu and Dharmavaram, and contesting against them in both segments could steeply set back the Paritala family financially.
Even if the Paritala family is financially ready to contest both Raptadu and Dharmavaram, Chandrababu will have to flout the ‘one family one ticket’ rule if he has to assign them two tickets. There is the risk that a few more politically affluent families could knock on the door with requests for two or more tickets.
But on the contrary, rejecting the request of the Paritala family which has been with TDP for many decades is not very easy. So only time will tell how Naidu will deal with this situation. But as of now, Naidu’s only focus is on materializing the Telugu Desam, Janasena, and BJP alliance.
