AP Gov Files Criminal Case On Pawan Kalyan

Published by

6 weeks before the assembly and parliament elections in Andhra Pradesh, Janasena head Pawan Kalyan has been named in a criminal case. The case was lodged by the Andhra Pradesh government at Guntur District Court.

The government cited Pawan Kalyan’s statement on the volunteer system and mentioned that this is open defamation of the hardworking volunteers and the state government, as an entity. Cases under Criminal IPC sections, 499 and 500 were filed against Pawan Kalyan.

The case was filed based on Pawan’s public statement on July 9, 2023, and the Guntur District Court notified the Janasena head to attend the next hearing on 25th February. The case was handed over to the 4th Additional District Court and further proceedings on this matter will be adjudged here.

Earlier, Pawan remarked that the public data collected by the volunteers could be misused by certain anti-social forces and could even trigger human trafficking. Nearly a year after this statement was made, the AP government decided to start the legal proceedings.
