BJP in Andhra Pradesh state means Babu (Chandrababu), Jagan (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy) and Pawan (Pawan Kalyan), commented Congress party national president Mallikarjuna Kharge. He made these remarks pointing out that all the political parties in the state (TDP, YSRCP and Jana Sena) are after Modi and BJP. “There is a BJP in Andhra Pradesh. B is for Babu, J for Jagan and P for Pawan. They are with BJP because they are scared of Modi Ji and do not respect the will of the people,” he said.
Kharge made these comments during the unveiling of the ‘First Guarantee’ of the Congress for AP. The guarantee is called ‘Indiramma Universal Basic Income support’ of Rs 5,000 per month to every poor family. Kharge declared that the amount would be transferred directly to the bank account of the women of the families. He said Congress guarantees are not like Modi’s guarantees and will be implemented strictly.
Congress also reiterated that it would fulfill all the promises made to Andhra Pradesh in 2014. These promises include granting a special package for developing the Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions, building the Dugarajapatnam seaport, and establishing the Kadapa steel plant. Kharge assured that if the Congress comes into power, they will finish the Polavaram project and give it national project status. He mentioned that the project was initiated during Congress’s governance.
After handing over the reins of the Congress party in AP to YS Sharmila, Congress is aggressively making its moves. This is the first major public gathering of the Congress party since Sharmila was appointed as the President of the state unit. On the other hand, Sharmila launched a fierce attack against her own brother and CM YS Jagan.
