The all-important meeting leading up the TDP, Janasena and BJP alliance took place in the national capital of Delhi last night as Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan sat down for a meeting with BJP stalwarts.
According to the media report, TDP has, in principle, decided to join the NDA alliance, in tune with Janasena which is already in the NDA alliance. The talks between Naidu and Amit Shah are reportedly fruitful and a mutual ground has been found for an alliance, say the reports.
But the most important question here is how many MLA/MP tickets did BJP ask Naidu in AP?
As per Telugu media reports, in the meeting that went on from 10:30 PM to 12:10 AM last night, the BJP expressed its interest in getting 7 MLA and 10 MP tickets in AP. This is a stiff demand from BJP and it is in sync with NDA’s goal of attaining 400 MP seats across the country in the general election.
But according to the internal buzz, Telugu Desam is willing to offer 4 MP tickets and 7 MLA tickets to BJP as anything more than that will affect the alliance’s electoral chances.
Another round of this crucial endeavor is scheduled to take place tonight and once this is done, we could get definitive clarity on the seat-sharing aspect.
In the 2014 alliance, BJP was given 4 MP tickets and 13 MLA seats. While BJP is likely to retain the same number of MP seats this time, the MLA tickets are likely to be reduced, particularly after the party won 0 MLA and MP seats in 2019. We should get a definitive update on the final allocated seats very soon.
