BJP has comfortably secured a surprisingly higher number of seats in the alliance as the party has 10 MLA and 6 MP tickets in its kitty. Now that the numbers game has been sorted out, the focus is on the constituency-wise candidate finalization.
According to the latest update, AP BJP’s former president, Somu Veerraju has set his sight on the Anaparthy constituency.
In the alliance’s seat distribution, it was reportedly agreed that BJP will be given the Anaparthy seat. In this scenario, Somu Veerraju who is confirmed to get a ticket from the BJP is reportedly likely to contest from the Anaparthy assembly constituency.
But this can’t be good news for TDP cadres locally as the TDP candidate Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy has been working very hard and preparing the canvas for the 2024 election campaign. He won this seat in 2014 and is a recognized personality locally. While it looked certain that he would contest on the TDP ticket for the third time in 2024, BJP’s move to join the alliance came up and subsequently, Somu’s name popped up for Anaparthy.
There is an internal talk amongst local political circles that TDP could be making a mistake if the party sacrifices Ramakrishna Reddy’s efforts all these years and gives away the seat to BJP’s Somu.
