YSR Congress has officially announced its list of 175 MLA and 25 MP candidates for the forthcoming election in Andhra Pradesh. There are certain points to be noted in the list of candidates released by YSRCP and one of the attention-grabbing observations is the candidacy of three female candidates.
The three female candidates are Murugudu Lavanya, Vanga Geetha and TN Deepika who are YCP’s contestants against Nara Lokesh, Pawan Kalyan and Nandamuri Balakrishna respectively.
Lavanya will be taking on Lokesh from Mangalagiri, Vanga Geetha will be taking on Pawan Kalyan from Pithapuram and TN Deepika will wage an electoral battle against Balayya from Hindupur. Lavanya and Deepika hail from the BC community while Vanga Geetha is from the Kapu community which is the dominant community in Pithapuram. A fair deal of social engineering has gone into the selection of these three candidates based on the local caste equations.
The Mangalagiri election is going to be really prestigious for Nara Lokesh after having lost from here in 2019. Lokesh confidently promised Chandrababu and Nara Lokesh on stage that he would win Mangalagiri by 50,000+ majority this term.
Hindupur is traditionally with TDP since 1983 so taking on Balayya here is not easy by any means. Coming to Pithapuram, Vanga Geetha was moved from the Kakinada parliament segment to Pithapuram due to the local caste equations. She will be taking on Pawan Kalyan in what appears to be an intense electoral battle.
