The Anakapalli MP seat is the most keenly contested in the upcoming Assembly elections. Neither the ruling YCP nor the TDP-JS-BJP alliance had announced the candidate from the constituency. The YCP has put it in pending to understand the strength of the candidate to be fielded by the TDP coalition. As part of the seat sharing, the TDP has let the seat to the BJP even when the TDP has a strong hold on it.
The BJP has not taken a decision over the party candidate to be fielded from the constituency. Party senior leaders CM Ramesh, GVL Narasimha Rao are contending for the seat. Neither of them are natives of the constituency and also do not have any influence on the electorate in the place. The BJP also does not have a hold on the constituency. The candidates from the BJP will have to completely depend on the campaigning and hold of the TDP and Jana Sena.
However, CM Ramesh has the support of Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. GVL also has the support of some key leaders in the BJP. Now, it has to be seen as to who would be chosen between the both. One need not be surprised even if a third name comes up suddenly. With the candidate from the TDP coalition not being finalized, YCP president jagan Mohan Reddy has also put the constituency pending.
Satyavati is the incumbent MP, belonging to the YCP. She does not have any negative image in the public and there is possibility of the YCP retaining her as the MP candidate for the upcoming general elections too.
However, the constituency is reserved for the BC community. In North Andhra, Anakapalli MP seat is the most crucial after the Vizag seat. It has to be seen whom would the TDP coalition and YCP choose for the constituency.
