The Hyderabad city court on Saturday granted the police seven-day custody of suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Praneeth Rao. The decision comes in response to a petition filed by the Punjagutta police, seeking custody of Rao for further investigation into alleged phone tapping during his tenure with the Special Intelligence Bureau.
Praneeth Rao was the cop who allegedly tapped Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s phone in the past. With the Congress government coming into power, the administration is acting seriously on all the offenders in several departments of the government.
Praneeth Rao was already placed under suspension by the State government for his alleged involvement in phone tapping and damaging equipment at the SIB office. He was arrested three days ago and subsequently sent on judicial remand.
Now, the court granted the custody of the officer to the police officials who will now begin their investigation. At the same time, several senior police officials are reportedly involved in this case and we have to wait for the outcome of the investigation.
