The governor of Telangana, Tamilisai Soundarajan has taken a big decision amid the fast-approaching general election as she has decided to step down from the governorship position.
Tamilisai has resigned as the governor of Telangana effective immediately and will be relieved of her duties soon.
The seasoned politician intends to contest on BJP ticket in the coming Lok Sabha election and this is cited as the reason behind her decision to step down as the governor. She has resigned from the Puducherry Lieutenant Governor position as well paralally.
Tamilisai is originally from Tamil Nadu and she is likely to contest from a Lok Sabha constituency in the state on BJP’s behalf.
During her time as Telangana governor, Tamilisai was mostly at loggerheads with the BRS government and even sensationally rejected the candidacy of the members suggested by the KCR party for the MLC election. But she appeared to be on good terms with the newly formed Revanth Reddy government. After serving as the governor of Telangana for nearly 5 years, she has stepped down.
