Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Y.S. Sharmila said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism against the Congress lacked rhetoric. She faulted Modi for saying that the Congress and YCP have a tacit understanding even while playing a main role in the destruction of the state by supporting Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy hand-in-glove and allowing him to carry on his anarchic rule in the state for the last five years.
She responded to Modi’s remarks at the Prajagalam Sabha held in Boppudi , on X and said: “Who allowed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to go on borrow and push the state into neck-deep debts? Whom did you call the foster son? Did not Jagan’s party MPs silently extend support to every bill introduced by the BJP in the Parliament?”
The Congress made several promises to Andhra Pradesh during the bifurcation of the state but the BJP, TDP and YCP pushed them into the oblivion, she said and added that the BJP was trying to hide these facts by making baseless allegations against the Congress.
“Is the BJP fearing Congress’ promise of according special status to Andhra Pradesh soon after coming to power,” she asked.
