By now, everyone knows that the Election Commission has announced the schedule for the forthcoming Andhra Pradesh and Telangana elections. With this, the model code of conduct has come into effect in the twin Telugu states.
Let us get to the main point of why we are here now. Is the Election Commission contemplating any action against Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh?
Speaking with the media today, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer, Mukesh Kumar Meena has commented on the teaser of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which revolved around the tea glass symbol of Janasena.
“Once the election code starts, if a film or any promotional medium wants to promote a certain election symbol of any party, prior permission must be taken from the EC. It has come to our notice that the teaser of Ustaad Bhagat Singh promoted the tea glass symbol. We will review the teaser and see if any action is to be taken. It isn’t banned to promote election symbols during the election code but he content must be approved by EC first. I will verify the mentioned teaser” the CEO said.
The Electoral Officer has stated that the teaser will be reviewed by the commission soon but didn’t reveal the nature of action that will be taken. The next step from EC should be interesting to see.
