Andhra Pradesh BJP has successfully forged an alliance with Telugu Desam and Janasena. The three of these parties are working together for the coming polls and come with the collective aim of uprooting YCP and forming the government. But going by AP BJP’s electoral plans, it appears that they are not making good use of the golden chance that was given to them.
In 2019, BJP was in a helpless position as it won 0 MLA and MP seats, and polled much fewer votes than NOTA. But this negative co-efficient was seen when it joined the alliance as the saffron party managed to negotiate 10 MLA and 6 MP seats in the alliance which is a very good deal, considering how the party didn’t even open its account in 2019.
Getting more MLA and MP tickets is just the first step as the most important thing here is to make good use of the given tickets and win as many seats as possible.
According to the internal talk, BJP doesn’t have strong and able leaders to field in the 10 MLA and couple of MP tickets that the party got. Of those who are aspiring the BJP tickets, not many actually have the propensity to win the election.
In the end, if BJP fields weak contestants in the tickets that it got, it will only help the ruling party YSR Congress to easily win these seats. This will defeat the whole purpose of the alliance.
So, the real challenge for BJP here is to immediately find suitable and effective leaders who can win the election with their own electioneering prowess. This will not just help the alliance gain power but also enable BJP to expand as a party in AP. The ball is in BJP’s court now and the responsibility is on them to identify and field their best available candidates in the allocated seats as there is no scope for errors if the fundamentally strong YCP is to be taken down.
