In a last-gasp move before the Andhra Pradesh election, the BJP forged an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party, forming a triangular TDP-JSP-BJP alliance. But it turns out that not every BJP leader is pleased with this alliance and the same can be understood if we look at the latest comment from senior film producer and former Eluru MLA, Ambika Krishna.
Ambika Krishna, who himself was a TDP activist till 2019 and joined BJP after the 2019 polls said AP BJP is divided into two parts i.e., TDP-BJP batch and RSS-BJP batch. He commented that the majority of the traditional AP BJP leaders and supporters who have been with the party for 20-30 years are firmly against their party’s alliance with TDP.
Ambika Krishna said ‘There is a barrier between the BJP’s hardworking root-level leadership and the central high command. That is the reason why the outcry of the cadres against the TDP alliance is not reaching our top leadership. While all the TDP-BJP leaders who only recently joined the party are getting tickets, the hardworking leaders are left with nothing. BJP supporters wanted to contest all 175 constituencies but out of nowhere this alliance was formulated and it destroyed everything.’
With under 6 weeks to go for the election, the expectation will be for BJP cadres to work hand in hand with the alliance parties to lead a joint campaign. But such detrimental comments from a senior leader like Ambika Krishna who himself was a TDP leader in the past work against the whole cause of the alliance. He is saying the majority of AP BJP leaders are still against the alliance and indirectly said they might vote for other parties considering all that has been happening with the AP wing.
