The anti-Amaravati camp, which had been running for the last 1,300 days has ended suddenly with the YCP political leader Maadigani Gurunadham shifting loyalty to the TDP. In the camp, the activists raised ‘Amaravati vaddu—Moodu Rajadhanulu muddu’ slogans exhibiting their solidarity with the ‘Three capital’ formula.
Bahujana Parirakshana Samiti president Gurunadham headed the camp under the supervision of the bigwigs in Tadepalli palace. The shifting of allegiance by Gurunadham suddenly silenced the camp. This indicates that it was initiated with ‘paid artists’ only to counter the Amaravati farmers, said TDP leaders.
Gurunadham, accompanied by Vijayawada TDP MP candidate Kesineni Sivanadh (Chinni), met TDP TDP scion N. Lokesh at party president and former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s residence on Wednesday and joined the party this morning.
The anti-Amaravati camp was put up by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s supporters to counter the Capital Region Farmers’ protest which had been underway for the last four years. The anti-Amaravati camp was set up on February 9, 2020, at the Seed Access road junction in Tallayapalemn near Mandadam.
Speaking to mediapersons after joining the TDP, Gurunadham said that he was disillusioned by the CM’s ‘three capital’ formula. He said that decentralization of power was possible in Andhra Pradesh only under the TDP government. He said that he had joined the party after Chandrababu Naidu promised him that TDP would do justice to all the poor in the state. He said that he was supporting the Capital region farmers’ demand to declare Amaravati as the lone capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Gurunadham said that he would lead the Bahujana Yatra from tomorrow and expose the secrets of Jagan’s administration.
YCP cadre, including leaders and party functionaries counting upto 1000 members, of Bucchaiahpet mandal in Chodavaram constituency, Anakapalle district, joined the TDP.
