Yesterday, JSP firebrand leader Pothina Mahesh announced that he is severing ties with his party and submitted his resignation to the party hierarchy. There are several media reports that Mahesh could be joining YSR Congress in the next two days.
While Mahesh’s move to YSR Congress is still in the speculation stage, his recent comment about switching parties has led to a heated discussion.
A week or so ago, when Mahesh was protesting against JSP giving away his Vijayawada West MLA ticket to BJP, he made a fierce comment. ‘Just because I am protesting, it doesn’t mean I’m leaving Janasena. JSP is my party and I will be here till the end. If there comes a day when I carry any other party’s flag apart from Janasena’s, I challenge JSP cadres to take a machete and slice away my hand.’ His exact words in Telugu were “Nenu party maarithe, kobbari bonda katthi tho naa cheyi narikeyandi”.
This file video of Pothina Mahesh is being trended on social platforms by JSP cadres as they are amused by his audacity of fighting for JSP even till last week and all of a sudden, preparing to carry the YCP flag because he couldn’t get the desired MLA ticket here.
