When there is a lot of anticipation, tussle, and multiple aspirants for a single ticket, it is always a good sign for a political party as it means that the particular constituency is seen as a sure-shot seat. Telugu Desam Party is seeing the same scene in Gajapathinagaram as this solitary assembly ticket has three aspirants.
Recently, Chandrababu Naidu announced Kondapalli Srinivas as TDP candidate from the Gajapathinagaram assembly constituency and he has even started his election campaign. But things took a steep twist after two other aspirants, ex-MLA KA Naidu, and Karanam Sivaramakrishna entered the scene, lobbying for the Gajapathipuram MLA ticket.
Naidu and Sivaramakrishna reportedly met Chandrababu last evening and had a prolonged discussion about how they would make for better candidates than Srininvas. When Naidu advised them to work for the victory of Srinivas, they politely turned it down and made a counterpoint.
Both the TDP veterans reportedly suggested to Chandrababu that the local cadres are unable to digest the allocation of ticket to Kondapalli Srinivas who wasn’t in consideration at first and swooped in at the last minute. The two seniors told Chandrababu that one of them must be announced as the new candidate and that is the only way TDP could win this sure-shot seat.
Reportedly, Chandrababu is contemplating the Gajapathinagaram assembly ticket saga now after the meeting with KA Naidu and Karanam Sivaramakrishna. What will be his next call? Will Naidu change the already announced candidate and allocate the ticket to either KA Naidu or Karanam?
But for now, Kondapalli Srinivas is unbothered by this lobbying by the two seniors and he is silently getting on with his electoral campaign in Gajapathinagaram.
