We usually see the kids of renowned politicians entering the political scene and creating their own legacy. But in Andhra Pradesh, the trend is so prevalent that we are seeing 8 descendants of former chief ministers of erstwhile AP contesting in the election this time.
The first two will be the descendants of the YS family i.e., YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YS Sharmila, the heirs of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Jagan is contesting from Pulivendula while Sharmila is an MP candidate from Kadapa.
Then coming to the Nandamuri family, we have three candidates here. Sr NTR’s son Nandamuri Balakrishna, and daughter Daggubati Purandeshwari are contesting from Hindupur and Rajahmundry(MP) respectively.
Nara Lokesh(Mangalagiri), the only son of Chandrababu Naidu is also on the list and he is the only candidate to have both his father and his grandfather(Sr NTR) having served as the chief ministers.
Then comes Nadendla Manohar, the son of the infamous one-month CM of erstwhile AP Nadendla Bhaskar Rao. Manohar is contesting from Tenali constituency in this year’s election.
Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy(CM for nearly 2 and half years back in 1992)’s son Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy is contesting as an MLA from Dhone assembly constituency.
Nedurumalli Ram Kumar Reddy, the son of Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy(CM in 1990) is contesting from Venkatagiri in this year’s election.
All 8 of these candidates are contesting from hot-shot seats in AP and we have to see how many of them will emerge victorious in this year’s intense electoral clash.
