Andhra Pradesh is exhibiting a shocking trend as the state heads for the elections as key leaders are falling prey to bemusing stone attacks while they are on their election campaigns.
Yesterday, it was chief minister YS Jagan who faced the blow of a stone attack after a miscreant hurled a stone at him while he was on his bus tour in Vijayawada last night. He was later treated at a hospital in Vijayawada and was declared fit.
Just a day after the attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy, the opposition party leaders, Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan also had to fall prey to similar attacks.
In two individual incidents, Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan were subject to stone attacks while they were partaking in public meetings. While the attacker who threw stone at Pawan Kalyan was immediately nabbed and handed over to the police, the attacker involved in the case of Chandrababu fled away.
In a span of 24 hours, the chief minister of AP, and the two opposition leaders of AP have all faced individual stone attacks. The Telugu states have perhaps not seen anything like this in the past.
