In the 2019 election, YS Jagan’s YSR Congress was literally untouchable in the Rayalaseema region as the party won 49/52 assembly seats in the segment. So, if the Telugu Desam+ alliance is to stake its claim at the CM seat, reducing YCP’s domination in Seema is a must. It turns out that the alliance has found the right man for the job in Nandamuri Balakrishna.
Balayya has been touring parts of Rayalaseema since last week and he is pulling humongous crowds all over. Particularly, the meeting in Kurnool last evening saw a staggering turnout. Being an MLA from Hindupur, and having the advantage of a mass hero filmy image, Balayya is always a loved personality in the Seema region, as is seen with the massive turnouts for his meetings.
Balakrishna is as aggressive as ever in these meetings as he is confidently saying Jagan’s time as the CM is done and it is time for the TDP+ alliance to prosper. He is on the job of energizing the TDP cadres that got depleted after the 2019 defeat which is the need of the hour for the alliance.
Not just the turnouts, the engagement for Balayya’s mass speeches and gestures are suggesting a strong trend and this is the kind of energy that is needed to subside YCP’s dominance in the region.
