Tharun Bhascker Dhassyam is one of the most talented filmmakers we have in Telugu, especially in the current generation. However, his acting gigs are dominating the director in him currently. After playing a key role in the Dhootha web series, Tharun is now gearing up to reprise the lead role in the remake of the superhit Malayalam film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.
Surprisingly, the film features Basil Joseph who is also a director turned actor. Basil made his debut as a director with the film Godha and later did Minnal Murali. As an actor, he has done a lot of films and even played the lead in some. Now, Tharun is reprising the role played by Basil.
Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is a comic drama which also sends out a very important message to society. Basil is a comic actor in Malayalam who was a perfect fit for the lead role. When it comes to Telugu, Tharun has yet to gain any image as an actor so far in his career. Except for Meeku Mathrame Cheptha, Tharun has not played the lead in any of the films so far.
This remake would be another full-fledged lead role for Tharun, who needs to flaunt his acting skills as the film majorly runs on his character. Regular comic actors like Priyadarshi, Rahul Ramakrishna, or even Allari Naresh could easily pull off the role, but we have to see to what extent Tharun will ace the character.
On the other hand, the very talented Darshana Rajendran is playing the female lead role in the film. Darshana has done a neat job and it may not be very tough to rope in someone to reprise her role. However, someone who is performance oriented would fit the bill.
The casting plays a crucial role for remakes and we have to see if this Telugu remake will recreate the success of the original.
