Having two or more candidates fight for the ticket from the same constituency is not always a good sign for the concerned party. While it might suggest that the party is sure to win the seat and hence the competition, the important thing is settling the tussle between the involved candidates and finding an amicable solution. In the case of the Khammam MP ticket, the Congress party is facing a very tricky situation on these lines.
Firstly, Deputy CM Malu Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Ponguleti Srinivasulu Reddy are in an intense tussle for this Khammam MP Seat. Ponguleti wants to field to his brother Prasad Reddy, and Deputy CM Vikramarka wants to secure the seat for his wife Nandini.
With both the senior politicians persistent about the seat, the ticket panchayathi has now transcended borders and reached Bengaluru, it seems. According to the internal talk, Bhatti and Ponguleti went to Bengaluru on Monday and had individual interactions with Congress troubleshooter DK Shiva Kumar and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. The contents of the meetings aren’t disclosed.
While there is a two-way clash between Bhatti and Ponguleti for this Khammam MP ticket, they are firmly against an outsider like Mandava Venkateshwara Rao who is also trying to get this ticket. In the end, either Bhatti might get it his way or Ponguleti might get it his way, but there is no chance the two of them would let an outsider get the ticket. With Telangana Congress scratching their heads on this issue, it has to be seen if the solution will be found in Bengaluru.
