Spiritual guru, seer and Sri Pitham president Paripurnananda Swamy is determined to make a foray into politics. He is much interested in politics and less in teaching spiritual principles to the public.
A cursory glance at his attempts to enter the political arena would let one understand his desire to make a mark in that sector rather than spirituality.
Currently, he filed nomination as an independent candidate from the Hindupur Assembly constituency. He aspired to contest as BJP candidate from the constituency. However, with TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu failing to part with the constituency as part of the TDP+ alliance, the seer entered the fray as an independent candidate.
Paripoornanda Swamy led Dharmagraha Yatra from Hyderabad to Yadadri when Katti Mahesh made some indecent remarks about Lord Sri Rama. The police refused to give permission to the Yatra and was put under house arrest for three days. He tried to grab people’s attention by leading such yatras but it was a failed attempt.
In November 2017, he was externed for six months after complaints were lodged against him in connection with his speech at Rashtriya Hindusena meeting. Later, he got the court orders reversed.
Then in 2018, he joined the BJP in party senior leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s presence. The seer even campaigned in favour of the BJP in nearly 50 Assembly segment during the 2018 elections but after the results were out, he disappeared from the political radar in Telangana.
After three years, in 2021, he became active again and lambasted the YCP government saying that the party was treating the Hindus like sheep. He even criticized the then endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas for failing to protect the interests of the Hindus.
Now, he is back in the political arena in Andhra Pradesh by filing his nomination papers.
