Ex PM’s Grandson In ‘sex scandal’?, Flees Country

Published by

The scandal reportedly involving Prajwal Revanna, a JDS MP and NDA candidate, Grandson of former PM HD Deve Gowda, centers on allegations of sexual assault and the circulation of objectionable videos. The Congress claims to possess incriminating material on a pen drive, accusing Revanna of assaulting thousands of women and recording illicit videos. In response, Revanna has vehemently denied the accusations, filing a complaint asserting that the videos are doctored to defame him before the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

The Karnataka government swiftly formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the scandal, highlighting the gravity of the allegations. Revanna’s leaves to Germany amidst the intensifying scandal has further amplified public scrutiny and legal actions.

Key political figures have weighed in on the issue. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah endorsed the SIT investigation, emphasizing the necessity of a thorough inquiry into the serious allegations. In contrast, HD Kumaraswamy, a senior JDS leader, reaffirmed his party’s commitment to addressing women’s complaints seriously while acknowledging the ongoing investigation.

The scandal has also triggered political reactions, with Revanna’s NDA ally, the BJP, distancing itself from the controversy and refraining from commenting on the investigation.

Legal maneuvers, including prior legal actions by Revanna against alleged defamation related to similar accusations, underscore the contentious nature of the case. The involvement of HD Deve Gowda, Revanna’s grandfather, adds complexity to the unfolding events.
