In exactly 10 days from today, AP will be going to elections and the polling would have started by this time then. This is the most significant election in the history of AP as the future of the two parties is at stake.
If Jagan’s vindictive approach in the last five years, including the arrest of Chandrababu, attacks on TDP leaders, and destruction of Amaravati is a feeler of what it is to come, there could be irrecoverable damage to TDP in the next 5 years if he comes to power again. Not just TDP, but also Pawan Kalyan could come under Jagan’s radar as we all saw how AP government selectively targeted Vakeel Saab and Bheemla Nayak. There could be a different kind of approach against Pawan then.
At the same time, Telugu Desam, mainly Nara Lokesh is dynamically aggressive with their approach. Lokesh has already promised a resounding payback to YCP leaders once TDP comes back to power. If TDP begins retaliation after coming to power in 2024, the YSR Congress could also start to face existential crises in AP like how BRS is facing in Telangana now. The deconstruction of YCP could start the very day the alliance comes to power.
So, in 10 days from today, AP people will be scripting history with regard to which party they want to survive in the state. If YCP wins, it will be tough going for TDP and vice versa. The all-important ballot will be in the hands of AP voters and it shall be seen whom they want to empower in this most significant electoral battle.
