As a part of the election campaign in Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi attended a massive public gathering alongside Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan last afternoon. While Pawan and Chandrababu expectedly fired on Jagan, PM Modi was preemptive with his approach. He triggered the YCP batch with his anti-incumbency comments but didn’t hold anything against Jagan.
Modi attacked the YSR Congress government by saying AP saw no progress in the last 5 years while it was blooming under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu. He remarked that the YSRC government didn’t facilitate the completion of Polavaram. His attack was entirely focused on the government led by Jagan, but not directly on Jagan himself.
Notably, the Prime Minister didn’t utter Jagan’s name even once in his elaborate speech the other day. And notably, this isn’t the first time this is happening either, even in Modi’s earlier visit to AP last month, he didn’t utter anything against Jagan.
While Modi’s critique on policy-making and administrative failure of the YCP government might be politically correct, a more shrewd attack on Jagan was needed to wipe off the remark that BJP is soft-supporting Jagan. But there was no effort in this regard by Modi.
