Nagari YCP candidate RK Roja pinned several hopes on party president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s public meeting in her constituency held recently. However, the public meeting failed to evoke the desired response from the public.
According to reports, there was only lukewarm response to Jagan’s public meeting in Nagari constituency.
Roja was of the opinion that she would be able to tide over the crisis if Jagan would stand beside her, even when her party leaders in the constituency ditched her.
She is thinking that the electorate would vote for her, seeing Jagan’s image beside her, felt political observers.
Roja’s expectations were watered down when the public did not turn up for Jagan’s meeting and now, she seems to have clarity that her defeat is certain in the upcoming Assembly elections.
There is information that even her own party leaders in the five mandals of the constituency are opposing her and not cooperating with her in the campaigning.
It is learnt that the YCP leaders of the five mandals urged Jagan Mohan Reddy not to issue ticket to Roja but fearing her strong voice, the YCP had to allocate the ticket.
The YCP leaders in Nagari had vowed in the public to defeat Roja in the elections, even if she was issued a ticket.
Roja planned to make the Putthur meeting a big success but with people showing disinterest in listening to her, she was helpless. There are reports that many of those mobilised to attend Roja’s meeting refused to get down the vehicles, they were shifted to the venue.
Reportedly, several people walked out of the venue even when Jagan was still addressing the meeting. Even the leaders opposing her attended the meeting but not to support Roja.
