Already we have seen the news about lots of NRIs belonging to the Telugu states, who have come to Andhra Pradesh from different countries across the globe, mainly the USA and UK, just to vote in the general election. While some analysts are ridiculing these NRIs saying that their voting might not affect the result. But here is how it actually affected the scenario.
There are instances where some political parties, both in the power and opposition, are said to have distributed almost ₹2000 per vote, and the maximum went to ₹5000. But most of these NRIs, who don’t get paid leave in their office abroad, have spent more than ₹1.5+ lacs to reach India, Andhra Pradesh and a constituency like Pithapuram to vote for their favourite politician. While some of them might have voted for the people in power, it is coming out that most of these NRIs spent money, took time and gave all-in for the sake of the Telugudesam & Janasena alliance.
Looking at these NRIs, many youths living in different parts of India, especially in Hyderabad, have rushed to AP to cast their vote. On that note, if any party want to calculate a price for the votes of these NRIs, surely they cannot do it as they are above such stuff. Looking at the trends, it looks like the final voting percentage is more than 80% and NRIs played a valuable part in that.
