Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy is facing legal troubles after a case was filed against him. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the police to take strict action against those responsible for damaging Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at seven polling stations in the Macherla Assembly constituency.
A video circulating online allegedly shows the MLA tampering with EVMs at polling station 202. The video evidence has been provided to the police by election authorities in Palnadu district for further investigation.
The ECI has directed the Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer to ensure that criminal charges are filed against all those involved in such incidents.
Reports are now coming that, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, the MLA from Macherla, had his driver abandon the car in Rudraram, Sangareddy district.
Police are on alert in Sangareddy, expecting Pinnelli’s arrival. The driver left Pinnelli’s car in Rudraram and fled in another vehicle. Subsequently, the driver was arrested in Kandi, but the MLA has evaded the arrest.
Surprisingly the MLA turned up on a Telugu news channel, saying that he was not coming to Macherla to avoid unwanted tensions. “If I want to come there, will be there in two hours in Macherla. But opposition parties are trying to frame unwanted allegations on me” he told the channel.
