The NDA has opened its account by winning the Surat seat. BJP’s Mukesh Dalal registered victory uncontested because the ECI rejected Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani’s nomination, on the ground that there is an issue with his proposers’ signatures. Eight other candidates withdrew their nominations paving way for Dalal’s win.
