The thumping victory of the TDP alliance led to grand celebration of the occasion by the cadres of all the three parties of the coalition in Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP won 135 seats, Jana Sena 21 and BJP eight seats while the YCP confined itself to 11 seats, even when the party president and former CM kept raising ‘Why Not 175/175?’ slogans.
An interesting incident amid the celebrations is the camaraderie of the Telangana Congress leaders and the TDP cadre in Khammam, a district on the border Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The TDP and Jana Sena cadres in Khammam celebrated the victory and Telangana agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao also participated in it.
He also conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the leaders of the TDP and Janasena.
Tummala reached the TDP Khammam district office and garlanded the bust of party founder NT Rama Rao and paid tributes to him, after being received warmly by the TDP cadre.
Even during the Telangana Assembly elections, the Khammam TDP functionaries supported the Congress candidates. Congress leaders and ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy went to the TDP office and urged the cadre for their support to them.
After winning the elections, they participated in the programmes held by the Khammam TDP leaders.
Even during the Lok Sabha campaigning too, the Congress leaders participated in the NTR’s birth and death anniversary programmes.
