Lakhs At Siddham, Lacks In Votes!

The Siddham political campaign by the YCP gave the party cadre immense confidence of winning the Assembly elections. However, the scene got reversed and the YCP suffered a humiliating defeat.

With the number of seats won by the YCP dwindling from a staggering 151 in 2019 to 11 in 2024, the party bigwigs are now in the introspection mode. The high intensity shock suffered by the YCP left the entire party cadre awful and clueless about what went wrong.

The party cadre was confident that YCP would get 100-120 seats if the party won the elections and 55-70 seats if it was defeated. However, the people’s mandate was completely in contrast to their expectations.

The YCP launched the Siddham campaign three months ahead of the Assembly polls. As part of it, huge public meetings were planned in four crucial constituencies in the state.

The Siddham sabhas which began in Vizag in the North Andhra region were conducted in different places till Kurnool in Rayalaseema. At all the meetings, YCP boss Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was the lone speaker who addressed the public, even when the local MPs and MLAs spent huge amount of money on the arrangements.

As many as 10 lakh people were mobilized for each of the meetings and for the last one, the YCP cadre even set a target to mobilise 15 lakh. The public were mobilized to the venue in buses and private vehicles.

All the Siddham meetings had been a huge success with people flocking to the venues in extraordinarily large numbers. However, the huge turnout did not turn into votes and YCP suffered a debilitating defeat, winning only 11 MLA and 4 MP seats.

Significantly, the YCP was trounced even in Rayalaseema even when the party boss hails from the region.

This clearly indicates that the huge number of public who attended these meetings failed to vote for the party, even when Jagan had been time and again claiming of transferring government funds to their accounts directly online.

The public tsunami at the meetings suddenly reversed their thought and mind soon as they reached the EVMs.
