First Time MLA, sure shot Ministry ?

Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, fondly called as RRR in political circles, was the first notable leader who revolted against the imperious rule of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy immediately after a few months when the YSRCP won in 2019 elections.

Though he was labelled as a ‘Rebel’ because of his anti-party activities, RRR didn’t resign and continued to criticize Jagan’s policies in the last five years. He emerged as a star politician with his fighting spirit despite Jagan’s inhuman treatment in the name of petty cases.

RRR initially planned to join the BJP and contest as Narsapuram MP again this time because of his close ties and former affiliations with the national party in the past. Unfortunately, he was denied ticket by the high command. After much drama and deliberation, he finally found shelter under Telugu Desam Party and was given MLA ticket from Undi constituency.

Had RRR contested from the BJP in Loksabha elections, he would have been the forerunner for a cabinet ministry post from Andhra Pradesh. Unfortunately, he lost a golden opportunity. Nevertheless, he is likely to be a minister in Chandra Babu Naidu’s cabinet.

Given the strong financial background and also the fact that he is a prominent representative of the Kshatriya caste, RRR is most likely to feature in Naidu’s council of ministers this time. Moreover, the impact created by RRR in highlighting the inefficiencies in YS Jagan’s ruling through frequent media interactions cannot be ignored.

So, there is a strong chance for RRR to be at the helm of affairs for a significant ministry even though he won as MLA for the first time in his political career. In 2018, he joined TDP in anticipation of MLA ticket. But, later jumped the fence to YSRCP as Naidu didn’t assure him a ticket to contest in 2019 elections.
