AP Assembly From 17 June: Will Jagan Follow KCR?

Published by

After facing a consolidated defeat in the recent Telangana election, two-time CM KCR came up with a wicked strategy as he started avoiding the assembly sessions. He hasn’t attended a single assembly session in Telangana thus far. Political observers say KCR is unable to bear the sight that his arch-rival Revanth Reddy has become the CM so he is avoiding assembly.

The situation is very similar in Andhra Pradesh. Outgoing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been ousted from power in this year’s election and his party YSR Congress has been confined to a negligible 11 MLA seats in the assembly.

With the new incoming CM Chandrababu to take charge on 12 June, the formulation of the cabinet will follow shortly after. Subsequently, the new AP assembly session are scheduled to commence on June 17th.

Jagan, who used to go to assembly with CM status and 151 MLAs on his side, will now have to go to the assembly with 11 MLAs and without even having opposition leader status. In the very same assembly, Jagan said Chandrababu is sitting as an opposition leader with his mercy. Cut to now, Jagan himself has to go to the assembly just as an MLA and not even as an opposition leader.

Would Jagan face this situation where YCP is smaller than Janasena in the AP assembly, be a bigger man and go to the assembly on June 17 to take the oath as an MLA? Or will he follow KCR and skip the assembly session? We will know the answer coming Monday.
