Odisha has delivered a historic verdict as for the first time since 2000 a new party is forming the government apart from the Biju Janata Dal which is led by Naveen Patnaik.
After serving as the CM of Odisha since 2000, Naveen suffered a defeat at the hands of BJP in this year’s assembly elections. The BJP central wing has appointed Mohan Majhi as the new CM of the state.
But there is a problem here as there is no designated CM residence in Odisha. This has resulted in confusion on where the new CM of the state must stay.
When Naveen first won as the CM in 2000, he rejected the government quarters and residence. He decided to stay at his residence, Naveen Nivas and operate from there. As a result, Naveen’s own house in Bhubaneswar became the official CM residence. There was no need for a new CM residence over the last two and half decades as Naveen won five consecutive elections.
Now that Odisha has a new CM, a designated CM residence has to be commissioned and the search is on for the same. A designated property will soon allocated to the newly elected BJP CM.
