Former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was issued notices to attend the inquiry into irregularities in power purchases and construction of power projects. The inquiry committee appointed by the Telangana government to probe into irregularities in power agreement with Chhattisgarh and construction of power projects has swung into action.
There are allegations that the BRS government had not opted for competitive bidding and allocated works to contractors basing on nominations. This apart, there are charges that the BRS government is involved in heavy corruption while buying 1000 MW from Chhattisgarh discoms.
Justice L Narasimha Reddy said that the committee should present the facts revealed by officials in the form of an affidavit.
The officials found that in 2014, the BRS government opted for the nomination procedure while buying power from Chhattisgarh discoms. The committee also asked for explanation regarding issuing orders to the discoms with PGCIL for 2000 MW corridor based on 1000 MW contracted capacity. Justice L Narasimha Reddy said that notices were issued to KCR and 25 others regarding purchase of power from Chhattisgarh. He also said that KCR had asked time till July 30. Notices also mentioned about irregularities in Chhattisgarh power agreement and construction of Yaadari and Bhadradri power stations.
Though the Commission set June 15 as the deadline for replying to the notices, KCR asked time till July 30.
Fuel department Former secretary Aravind Kumar and SK Joshi were interrogated by the Commission on Tuesday during which the duo revealed that they implemented the government orders.
Justice L Narasimha Reddy said that the Commission had met former CMD Prabhakar Rao, the then principal secretary Suresh Chanda and that the duo informed them that the then government had taken three decisions and that they are not concerned with Genco.
