Buoyed by the landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is planning to revive his party in Telangana. He is contemplating to appoint Telangana TDP president to oversee the party affairs in the neighbouring state.
As part of it, the top TDP leaders have already contacted Nama Nageswara Rao who had lost the MP elections in Khammam. Now, Nageswara Rao is in the BRS and with the party in doldrums following the defeat in Telangana, Naidu believes that it is the right time for him to bring back past glory to his party.
In the past, Nama was a TDP leader who joined the BRS after the bifurcation of the state.
Following the defeat of the BRS, several of the party leaders, who were associated with the TDP earlier, are likely to get back to the TDP.
Nama is an industrialist and Naidu is of the opinion that by making him the party president, he can attract several other entrepreneurs and industrialists into the TDP.
Earlier, Naidu identified Kasani Gyaneshwar as the Telangana TDP president, opining that the BC community would support the TDP as Kasani is a BC leader. However, Kasani switched loyalties to the BRS.
Meanwhile, other senior leaders like Errabelli Dayakar Rao and other former MLAs are also learnt to be eyeing to join the TDP. They are of the hope that Naidu’s victory in Andhra Pradesh would help them expand their businesses in Hyderabad. They have understood that sticking to the BRS would not fetch them any benefit and hence, mulling to join the TDP. It may be recalled that Errabelli was also associated with the TDP in the past.
