Among YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s many decisions as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the one which received a huge backlash from all quarters is the construction of a hill resort in Rushikonda by demolishing the existing ‘Haritha Resorts’.
Though the YSRCP contended that the building will be meant for commercial purposes such as resorts, hotels and various tourism activities, conflicting claims later emerged when the opposition parties raised a hue and cry that it would be used as Jagan’s official residence.
The state tourism development corporation (APTDC) initiated the project with an investment of 365 Crores as per official records. Access into the building was completely restricted for public and the media. Former tourism minister Roja opened the building a few months ago. As the fate of this controversial building remains uncertain due to change of government in the state, some shocking facts have been unearthed after a sneak-peek into it.
Earlier today, Bheemili MLA Ghanta Srinivas Rao and other local leaders of NDA alliance went into the building to find out what was the real purpose behind its construction. Much to the shock of everyone who went inside the building, it is revealed that the very purpose of the ‘Rushikonda’ palace was simply to cater the lavish lifestyle of the then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who planned to shift his base from Tadepalli to Vizag. The visuals of this palace are now going viral all over social media.
The inside visuals reveal shocking truths about the amount of public money splurged to accommodate the personal residence of a Chief Minister. Luxurious amenities, high-quality furnishings, glittering chandeliers, expansive rooms, sumptuous corridors, spacious bathrooms with plushy designs and upscale interiors are the hallmarks of this posh building.
Though the state tourism development corporation (APTDC) initiated the project with an investment of 365 crore on the Rushikonda Hill after demolishing the renovated tourism resorts in 2021, it was alleged that the building would cost more than 500 Crores due to its fancy amenities.
Ghanta Srinivas Rao commented that this building can likened to that of Saddam Hussain’s bunglow and Gali Janardhan Reddy’s opulent building in Bellary. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government used more than 500 Crores for its construction only to use as a personal building.
Jagan Mohan Reddy proposed Vizag as the executive capital as part of three capitals idea. However, he was unable to shift the executive functionaries to Vizag in the last five years due to the court’s intervention. He aspired to take oath as CM in Vizag in his second term. But, the people of Andhra Pradesh firmly rejected his policies and ideas by giving an absolute majority to the NDA alliance in the recent assembly elections.
